Documentation/Team & Roles

Team & Roles

Every workspace member has one of three roles, which determines what they can access.

Roles

RoleCan do
OwnerEverything an admin can, plus billing management and the ability to remove any member, including admins. Every workspace has exactly one owner — the person who created it.
AdminInvite and remove team members, access Settings, manage the knowledge base and integrations. Cannot access billing.
MemberUse Ask, the Chrome extension, Forward-to-Answer, and the Questionnaire Engine. Cannot access Settings or invite other members.

Inviting teammates

Only owners and admins can invite new team members. From Settings → Team members, enter an email address — the invitee receives an email with a direct signup link. There's no admin setup required on their end; they just click through, sign up, and land directly in the workspace.

New invitees default to the member role unless an admin specifies otherwise at invite time.

Removing teammates

Owners and admins can remove any member (except the owner) from Settings → Team members. Admins cannot remove other admins or the owner — only the owner can do that.

Settings access

The Settings page — team management, the Forward-to-Answer address, integrations, and billing — is restricted to owners and admins. Members who navigate there directly will be redirected; there's nothing configurable for a member role.

Billing specifically is visible only to the owner, even though admins can see the rest of Settings.

The danger zone

Owners have access to a "danger zone" in Settings for irreversible actions on the workspace itself. Treat anything in that section as permanent.
